lyrics

Life is like a broken cup
We try to piece together
But puzzles aren’t for everyone
And some of us can’t weather
The storms that hit relentlessly
Like tides that never turn
Swimming in the dark too long
Will hide what doesn’t burn

And he wonders what the point is
As he dons his uniform
and paints a smile on perfectly
While inside he is torn
And there’s no other way that they
Have ever seen his eyes
So the day they hear the news
Will be a day full of surprise

We’ll all be dead one of these tomorrows
If you choose which one
I won’t blame you for my sorrow
Cuz this life is yours
And if the highs lose to the lows
And you decide to go
Please know
I will still love you

Death is just like eggshells
That we tiptoe gently on
Some of us can’t bare to see past
Choosing it as wrong
Yet science interferes with life
Every single day
And the bombs we turn a blind eye to
Just took a child away
From a mother who screams silently
Blood spattered on her face
Born on the wrong starting block
In this inhumane race
And she wishes it was her
As she gathers up her son
With a heart just like a broken cup
Her family now all gone

We’ll all be dead one of these tomorrows...

War is just like shattered glass
It cuts deep and reflects
Death is its commodity
And life its consequence
As they fly over the carnage
He sees her crouching there
Placing debris on a child
While she gently strokes their hair

As he jumps with eyes closed
His pain about to cease
She sees him land and runs to him
For her own sweet release
Their eyes lock briefly, sparkling
And as he fades away
She takes his gun back to her son
Today is, too, her day..

We’ll all be dead one of these tomorrows..

Society’s a broken cup
Smashed repeatedly
by those who claim to hold
The only glue just out of reach, and we
Are nothing more than pawns
In a game that will not cease
Til we collectively refuse to peddle
Anything but peace..
